BDA folder structure

How we have build up our structure-structure:

default

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/1_changed.txt

  • A TXT file with the changes to all folders

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/2_status_folder.txt

  • TXT-file with Information about the folders and their versions number they are in-sync

Extra

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/Extras/

  • addons for Emulators like snapshots, mainly MAME is updated

MAME (FBneo is similar)

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/CHDs/

  • there are the CHD-files for the current MAME (Merged mode). The txt-file is an output of information about the files, use that if you are unsure if the "x.chd" fits your need. The md5 file can be used to check the downloaded files with a checksum program if they are correct downloaded.

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/bios/

  • In this folder are only BIOS files from MAME that points to the "*-full" folder. If you are looking for a specific BIOS-file you can find it here easily, of course you can download the same file also from the "*.full" folder

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/currentroms/

  • This folder is a redirector to the "*-full" folder. Sometimes (and we need it for our update-script) it is easier to download a file with the foldername "currentroms" than with the "*-full" name. This foldername for "*-full" does change it name with every version, currentroms is static.

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/emma/

  • These are "addon-roms" that have not direct something to do with MAME. Those roms could be added in the future to MAME. They are for http://www.citylan.it/

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/mame-0234/ (update currrent version)

  • This is the update rom folder for MAME for version "0.234" (splited roms). The name is changing when a new build appears and we update this folder. it is only used for updating a previous version to the *-full" version. Keep in mind that you need a rommanager for updating your set. This folder contains only updated files, they are not complete sets.

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/mame-0234-full/

  • This is the full rom folder for MAME for version 0.234 (splited roms). The name is changing when a new build appears and we update this folder.

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/rollBack/

  • This folder is only used when you build a previous version for an older emulator. You need a Rommanager that does it. Full-folder and parts of the update folder can needs to build a new full folder for an older MAME version.

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/update/ (update next version)

  • There are roms for the next version of MAME. You need also to rebuild your set with a ROMmanager yourself to a have a complete intermediate version of MAME. When a new version of MAME appears this content is moved to the "mame-0235" folder (example)

https://bda.retroroms.info:82/downloads/mame/update-packs/

  • The update folders (update currrent version) are moved here after a new MAME version appeared Note: only the roms are in this folder, CHDs are moved to the CHDs-folder.

All the other folder should be self explained ;-)

Thank you so much for what you do every day and for this post.  I am completely ignorant on the subject.  Could you tell me what you need to download from the server to get the latest updated version?  And could you also indicate a guide for newbies like me, on using a rom manager and how to use it with the contents you update with the server?  ... I would never want to make a mistake or corrupt the roms given the amount of data to download.  I downloaded "Currentsrom" "CHD" "Chd_temp" "bios" "rollback" .. What should I download?  Full.0226?  ... I'm sorry but it may be useful to know it in detail to ignorant people like me.  What should I do on the mame application to show the roms?  How should the folders be set up?  Does the bios go with the roms?  Do the chd go into the roms?  I apologize in advance to you and the more capable in here ... But even though I see guides, many differ from each other and send me into confusion.

This thread is not for helping you with an emulator. There are plenty manuals/how-to available in the internet (do a search). One of them is my guide (a little outdated) https://www.mameguide.info

Of course you can also open a thread in the forum asking for help, but not in this topic here please.

and btw I would start with an emulator, investigate how it does work, what is needed, download only some roms and try it out. I would not download all files here as a start.

MAME is huge, complete set for V 0.226 if you want a really complete set:

- ROMS: 72 GB

- CHDs: 515 GB

- Softwarelist (roms & CHDs) : 2.5 TB (not available here)

Hi. About software lists, I see the CHD folder, but no zips... are they gonna be back sometime soon?

Thanks!

softwarelists? We host no SL here, only in my MEGA links. CHDs as zip? in the past it was as rar-parts stored, but nowadays we have them unpacked as one single file (chd original file).

Please,
can you also dump and add the Tetris Atari Games Bootleg hack roms from bootleg set 2 to bootleg set 3 and also the 1993 one produced by: "MICRO GAMES"?

Thank you

Sergio

This is not a wish thread ! And we do not dump anything !
