ScummVM 2.7

Does anyone have a .dat file.

I am not asking for content, just a verified .DAT.

I already have a collection of files...of sort which are in a total mess and would like to update, complete, organize.

So if anyway has it then please, when you get an opportunity can you post it.

Thank you,

MikeL2000

Here Gruby's Datfile Pack (2022-09-08) for ScummVM, REminiscence and HODe

I tried asking stranno (who usually posts the collection on archive.org) about the March 4th, 2023, DAT set, but he hasn't replied yet. Gruby later went on to other things so the project seems on hiatus, but if anybody has the "extras" pack from that date (including DATs), thank you in advance.

Also, i have less than 100 missing from that 2022 set, drop me a note if you lack anything important. Most can be found on archive though, so start there, and gimme a holler if you lack anything must-play.

Can you upload the new DAT Pack? THX

Would if i had it, but that is not how the world turns, sadly, that is why i too am asking.

I know that stranno (one of the guys who run AbandonSocios, a Spanish language abandonware forum, and also the unofficial "keeper" of Gruby's there) had some problem with the virus scanner on archive, and that is why the latest set there is from 2020. There was a 2021 and a 2022 as well, but i have very little info on the 2023 set apart from the online README file.

But - if anyone else can chip in, please do!

Can you post a link to an actual Archive .org posting.

I have scoured that thing and I can only find fragments and of course, a hundred posts of the emulator itself that you can get on the ScummVM website.

What I have is an unorganized hodgepodge of 2.0, 2.1 and just an update for 2.5.

Someone just post 2.7 or the last that they have, in full, organized instead of this fractured mess.

Heck, put it usenet, I still have access to that as well.

Yeah, sure: https://archive.org/details/grubys20201223

Those torrents above might also be helpful. Won't get you the whole thing, but very close.

So no one has come up with a 2.7 dat yet?

I have so much stuff I would hate to grab all of Grubby's stuff on the archive and take up their bandwidth.
Also, it looks as if Grubby does not have a torrent so getting everything would be a chore anyway.

I would like to build a 2.7 then put it on the archive or other but I don't have the time to start from the beginning for thousands of files.

There is no "official" ScummVM DAT, because the way it verifies files is hit and miss - most games are defined by a couple of "must have" files defined by CRC, and then something along the lines of "hopefully s/he threw in a file named thisandthat" that works. You cannot possibly DAT every single way someone would encode, for example, the soundtrack for Full Throttle - some encode it as ogg, some as flac, some as mp3,, but ScummVM accepts most, as long as it recognises the file format.

Gruby, on the other hand, DATs every single language and platform variation, picks the best of each, and makes that the "de facto" for himself and whoever likes his collection. His datsets are irregular from ScummVM versions, and pretty much whenever he feels like he hit a milestone.

Hope that clarifies a bit. It is simply impossible to make an official ScummVM DAT, Gruby is just the best and most complete collection you can find.

Thanks by the torrents, hope in the future 2.7.0 Scummvm torrent
