FB Alpha 0.2.97.41/2 released

A bit of a surprise, a new version(s) of FBA Alpha is out just a couple of months after the mid April release of FBA 0.2.97.40!

In fact two releases on the 9th July with a quick fix to an issue with FBA Alpha 0.2.97.41.

There are a bunch of new drivers including Namco System 2 support!

http://www.fbalpha.com/

As with every update of FB Alpha I'm missing a few roms again. Can anyone help me out here?

Yesterplay80:

Here are some of your missing, though these are in the BDA (MAME)

For me that leaves the following hacks and samples missing:

kof95sp
kof98cb
lastbladsp
lastbld2eh
samsho4sp
bang  (sample)

Make a fix dat. I'll upload your missing files.

Tepman:

The reason I didn't include a fix dat is I have been unable to generate a fix dat that included completely missing sets, only incomplete sets.

The one attached is mssing:

kof95sp
lastbladsp
lastbld2eh
samsho4sp

When I select save / fix-datefile / Completely missing sets  ....nothing saves. I know they are missing from the missing sets list. Clearly I am doing something wrong :(

Nothing saves because you aren't missing a complete set.
Try choosing "All Listed Set Issues..." after the scan and post that datfile.

Perkle:  When I save 'All listed set issues' (via fix dat save) it shows identical to what I have attached above (Bang,kof98cb missing). When I try to save 'completely missing sets' I get no save dialog box in the fix dat / save menu, as you say that suggests, no set is missing. However when I save the Missing/Have list from the scan results display, via higlighting a problem and right click I get:

You are missing 4 of 4897 known FB Alpha v0.2.97.42 Arcade Games sets (+ BIOS sets)

kof95sp | "The King of Fighters '95 (Special 2017, hack) [Hack]"
lastbladsp | "The Last Soldier (Special 2017, hack)"
lastbld2eh | "The Last Blade 2 / Bakumatsu Roman - Dai Ni Maku Gekka no Kenshi (Enhanced Hack)"
samsho4sp | "Samurai Shodown IV - Amakusa's Revenge / Samurai Spirits - Amakusa Kourin (Special 2017, hack) [Hack]"

which are indeed missing sets. I do not have these archives at all in my actual rom directory.

I suspect the issue is I am using clrmamepro set to 'split sets'....perhaps I should be using 'non-merged sets'?

Anyway, regardless currently I cannot save a fix dat file that reflects everything I am missing. Are you using the non-merged set option, I wouldn't have thought so as it takes more disk space?

Thank you! I'm pretty sure I downloaded them from BDA already, I don't know why they were still missing. Now all that is missing are the 5 Neo-Geo hacks:

kof95sp
kof98cb
lastbladsp
lastbld2eh
samsho4sp

Btw. attached is your missing bang sample (contained in gaplus.zip).

Hi,

I'm missing a few, could someone help ?

Many thx!

Stef

@hoblingr, have you clicked on the big DOWNLOADS link on top of this page?

Because the ROMs you request are in the BDA.

I'm a little new to FBA, but i'd like to use it on my NVIDIA Shield TV Emulators.

I was able to find V .39, but have not been able to come across .42 yet, I have a full set of MAME 0.191, is there a way with ClrMamePro, or another program to build the .42?

Natemac00

FBA development is initially designed as a Windows application (see www.fbalpha.com/downloads) version 0.2.97.42 (9 July 2017) being the latest. Other authors have
compiled versions for other hardware/OS platforms, but often they are older versions (like .39). Its not just a matter of finding the roms, you also need to find a version of FBA compiled for the Nvidia Shield. Looks like aFBA is one option another is to check out retroarch, From what I understand about Nvidia Shiled you are probably looking for FBA apps that run in the Android OS environment.

There is little point trying to assemble the roms without an actual application to run them.

RetroX and also RetroPie support .42

Yes I know it won't all work flawlessly, the the Shield TV plays GameCube games at most games at full speed, we'll see what RetroX has built into it to play FBA.

i found a DAT file from the RetroPie website for .42 I'm currently rebuilding it with ClrMamePro using my .191 library and the .39 set i found. we'll see how close I get with those two set.

needed about 10 from the bda site, bot otherwise completed my set for .42

hmmmm old stuff -> is there something missing?

Hello,

miss me few roms, can you help me please. Thanks.

That brings it back to my question: Is something missing here?

http://bda.retroroms.info/downloads/fba/

Hi Mucci: i try roms from http://bda.retroroms.info/downloads/fba/ but files which miss me arent here.

Sukacek77, I have the complete FBA 0.2.97.42 set and none of the roms you request are in it.

Are you sure you're using FBA 0.2.97.42?

Perkele, yes i have version 0.2.97.42, but for ROM control i used ROMVault. Now i used CLRMamePro and all is good, set is complete. So i dont know why RomVault shows that some roms miss. Thanks for help.

Sorry for the delay:

Note: Rebuild with the clrmamepro dats, then torrentzip the zip files, then use the torrent to force recheck your files, you should start at 80% or more. I did the above to update from 0.2.97.37 set
